MINNEAPOLIS — Adrian Peterson, the Minnesota Vikings’ career rushing leader, will be an unrestricted free agent when the market opens next week. Peterson, who will turn 32 on March 21, is coming off a meniscus tear in his right knee that limited him to 72 yards on 37 carries over parts of three games. General Manager Rick Spielman said the team would “continue to have conversations” with Peterson’s representatives about the potential of re-signing him. Peterson was processed at the Montgomery County jail, near Houston, according to a sheriff's office spokesman, Lt. Brady Fitzgerald. It wasn't immediately clear where he went afterward, as there was no activity outside of his Houston-area home and nobody answered the door at his home near Minneapolis.

It seems suspended Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson has quite a bit in common with his team’s ancient namesakes. First, he seems ok with a little violence, and is currently under investigation for child abuse after he used a switch to ‘spank’ his four-year-old son. Secondly, new allegations say he’s not adverse to a wild, drunken orgy or two! The football star is being investigated for being part of a 2011 sex party during which he used a credit card from his ‘charity’ organization, the All Day Foundation. During the party, which included his underage brother, Peterson reportedly got into a nasty argument with one the female attendees and the evening descended into chaos. The day after the alleged orgy, a Minneapolis woman told cops Peterson raped her! Peterson is now on the radar of the cops and--even more terrifyingly-- the IRS! --Tax fraud is a real CRIME! His charity scam *cough* group’s website went offline after the media reported that a US$70,000 ‘donation’ never made its recipient. --It ain’t looking good for this Viking. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Vikings Spoil Adrian Peterson’s Return With a Tribute to Randy Moss Great night to put #84 in the rafters Diggs and Adam Thielen proved to be a nearly unstoppable combination for Minnesota, with Diggs finishing the game with seven receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns while Thielen caught nine passes for 157 yards. Peterson, who holds the Vikings’ career records in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, was playing for another team for the first time after 10 seasons with the Vikings, and he was greeted with a loud mix of cheers and boos from his former fans. Adding some insult to Peterson’s ineffectiveness and frustration, the Vikings did not seem to miss him at all in the running game thanks to Dalvin Cook, a rookie drafted in the second round, who carried the ball 22 times for 127 yards, seemingly answering any questions as to whether he was ready to be a starter in the N. F.L. Diggs, a third-year wide receiver out of Maryland, wore special cleats to honor Moss, and was electric in the first half, scoring two touchdowns, the first of which he celebrated with a homage to Moss’s signature moves. Their dominance had the understated Sam Bradford visibly celebrating on the field as he piled up 346 passing yards and three touchdowns, easily outdueling the Saints’ Drew Brees, who had a late surge to finish with 291 passing yards and one touchdown. Adrian Peterson got the start for the New Orleans Saints in his return to Minnesota, but he found himself an afterthought in a matchup that quickly turned into a game-long tribute to another former Viking: Randy Moss. With Minnesota’s defense stifling the New Orleans attack, and Stefon Diggs doing his best Moss impersonation, the Vikings rolled to a 29-19 victory.

The Minnesota Vikings All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson is eligible to play this Sunday against the Colts after missing almost three months with a knee injury. The former MVP suffered a torn meniscus against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2, an injury with a recovery time of around four months. Peterson returns just as the race for the playoffs is beginning to heat up. His return will boost the leagues worst rushing offense, with the Vikings averaging fewer than 75 yards per game. Without Peterson, the Vikings went 5-6, putting them at 7-6 overall and tied with the Packers for second in their division.

Suddenly the Seattle Seahawks are thundering toward the playoffs. They may just be the team no one wants to face in the season’s final weeks. In what could be a first-round playoff matchup, the Seahawks trampled NFC North leader Minnesota 38-7. Seattle’s defense swarmed all over the Vikings in their home stadium. They held Minnesota to just 125 total yards, including just 18 on eight carries by Adrian Peterson. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw three touchdown passes and the surprising Thomas Rawls ran for 101 yards. Rawls has taken on the rushing burden following Marshawn Lynch’s absence.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson beat his 4-year-old son with a tree branch - or “switch” as it is commonly known Adrian Peterson Ray Rice NFL Roger Goodell Baltimore Ravens Johnathan Dwyer Arizona Cardinals Brandon Marshall Chicago Bears - resulting in injuries to the child’s back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the child’s hands. Adrian Peterson Arrested For Beating Son In Texas – Minnesota Vikings Celeb (CNN) -- NFL star Adrian Peterson turned himself in to authorities early Saturday in east Texas, one day after news broke that Peterson had in the local prosecutor's view hurt his child "with criminal negligence or recklessly" under the guise of discipline. Shortly after reporting to authorities, Peterson posted $15,000 bail and was released, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. That $15,000 likely won't make much of a dent on Peterson's checkbook. He agreed to a lucrative contract in 2011 with the Minnesota Vikings, which numerous publications, including NFL.com, reported would be worth $100 million (including $36 million guaranteed) over a 7-year period. Still, the charge he faces has already impacted Peterson negatively: He won't play Sunday, at least, after the Vikings deactivated him for their game with the New England Patriots. And the NFL said it was reviewing the incident under league's personal conduct policy. Peterson hasn't spoken publicly since a grand jury indicted him on a felony charge of child abuse. But his lawyer has, saying that Peterson used "a switch to spank his son" in doling out discipline much like "he experienced as a child growing up in East Texas." "(Peterson) will continue to insist on his innocence of any intended wrongdoing," the attorney, Rusty Hardin, said Friday. On Saturday, Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Phil Grant -- whose office made the case against Peterson to the grand jury over a period of weeks -- said prosecutors "will take this charge extremely seriously and we look forward to presenting this case to a jury." According to Texas law, a person can be convicted of injury to a child if they are proven to have caused bodily or mental injury "intentionally, knowingly, recklessly or with criminal negligence" or causing such harm by omission. The crime is punishable by up to two years in a state jail and a $1,000 fine. In Texas, someone can defend himself against a charge of injury to a child if they can prove it happened while they were administering "reasonable discipline," Grant said. But that's not what prosecutors think happened in Peterson's case. Obviously, parents are entitled to discipline their children as they see fit, except for when that discipline exceeds what the community would say is reasonable," the district attorney said. "And so, a grand jury, having indicted this case, looked at the injuries that were inflicted upon this child and determined that that discipline was not reasonable." NFL fallout News of Peterson's indictment rocked the NFL. Part of it has to do with the fact that Peterson has long been one of the league's most popular and successful players. His best campaign was in 2012, when the Palestine, Texas, born player earned Most Valuable Player honors after rushing for 2,097 yards, just nine yards short of the single-season mark. The historic 2012 campaign came after a potentially career-ending knee injury. Peterson's 2-year-old son was found unresponsive last year in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and later died of what authorities said were injuries consistent with abuse. Joseph Robert Patterson, the boyfriend of the boy's mother, has been charged with murder in that case The felony injury to a child charge also comes at a tough time for the NFL generally because of the Ray Rice case. There were a lot of things Minnesota Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon wasn't "supposed" to do, but after Adrian Peterson's indefinite suspension last season, McKinnon stepped up, rushing for 538 yards in six starts, including a breakout 135-yard performance in Week 4. After an offseason spent recovering from back surgery – and with AP back in the fold – McKinnon heads to Vikings camp determined to push Peterson for reps, and prove that last season wasn't a fluke.

The Toronto Blue Jays could very well be more active than most baseball minds would think during the MLB offseason. According to MLBTradeRumors.com, the Blue Jays have already expressed interest in acquiring second baseman Gordon Beckham. After injuries induced a relatively disappointing 2013 season with the White Sox the Jays feel as if they can acquire the former eighth overall pick even though they don't have much to offer in return. Bulls star Derrick Rose is a game-time decision for his first meaningful home game since he injured his left knee in the 2012 playoffs. Rose did not participate in Chicago's shoot-around ahead of Thursday night's game against the New York Knicks , and coach Tom Thibodeau said the speedy point guard has a sore neck. Rose tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in the 2012 playoff opener and missed all of last season.
