4. Healing The Inner Child

Healing The Inner Child

As children, we work intuitively but our parent's, the society's beliefs start restricting us and somewhere in the process, we STOP EXPERIMENTING. The many REJECTIONS, OBJECTIONS which one faces during childhood silences the inner voice of the child. This Guided Meditation helps to restore the Self-Confidence and Love in our Inner Child, which further heals the Being. Healing the Inner Child enables us to let go of the Wrong Beliefs which are a stumbling-block in our growth. Speaker: Kanu Priya

9. Pure As The Lotus

Pure As The Lotus

pirits of the Dead is a psychedelic-stoner-folk-rock band with one foot in the electric magic of the sixties /seventies and the other in the modern electric rock sound of 2012. Norway's Spirits of the Dead released their self titled album in 2010 to critical acclaim and was honored onto Classic Rock Magazine's top 50 albums-of-the-year list and included with a track on their cover mount CD - "The Best Of 2010" Their second album "The Great God Pan" is a much more folk, psychedelic and jazzy record. It takes you immediately on a journey through deep forests, over high mountains, where beautiful landscapes opens up and sometimes tricks you into the darkest (and brightest) corners of Pan's Kingdom. Somewhat more a conceptual album than the debut, yet still has the great diversity of songs that are SOTD's brand. As the first album it is recorded in Grand Sport Studios by Christian Engfeldt and mastered by George Marino/Sterling Sound NY. Musicians: Ole Øvstedal (guitars), Ragnar Vikse (vocals), Geir Thorstensen (drums) and Deadly Nightshade (Bass) Review quotes from the second album; "This is superior stuff, and as a Soundtrack to a trip trough imaginary green and pleasant lands, delivers in full" - 7/10 Classic Rock Magazine "Spirits of the Dead are giving psychedelic rock a welcome with bold colourful brushstrokes and a genuine sense of wonder" - Classic Rock Prog "Deeply powerful and captivating every second of the way" - Shindig Magazine "This is a rich and surprisingly elegant album" - 4/5 Rock and Reel "A pagan folkocalypse. SOTD do it incredibly well and with a remarkable flair for balancing the modern and classic sides of their sound" - The Obelisk "The prog-tinged Norwegian classic rockers have ensured they maintain the momentum by rolling out the fantastic follow-up The Great God Pan. Dead Good!" - 9/10 Rush on Rock "Spirits Of The Dead have gone out of their way to more than fulfill any high expectations." - 83/100 Altsounds " Hallucinogenic may been involved in making some of the music. For fans of King Crimson, Nick Drake and Tame Impala" - 7/10 Rock Sound "The Great God Pan will stand as one of the best Norwegian Rock albums this year" - 5/6 Norway Rock Magazine With The Great God Pan, Spirits Of The Dead have managed to create an album that’s completely unique, every single track takes you on a journey of discovery into a previously uncharted world, it’s eclectic, it’s different and it’s oh so very daring in a musical world of sound-a-like bands. If you want something to challenge, to seduce, to mesmerize I suggest you get hold of The Great God Pan, you won’t be disappointed. -10/10 Rhythm and Booze www.thespiritsofthedead.com

NATHU SOLANKI @ Blue Lotus Festival, Pushkar 2013

Nathu Solanki - Boiling Beats: The Kettle-Drummers of Pushkar The melodious shehnai and the resonating beats of the nagara kettle drums open up the last day of the Blue Lotus Festival, performed by Pushkar’s very own Nathu Solanki. The nagaras are loud, booming percussion instruments (the precursors of orchestral timpani) played with unerring accuracy and skill. As an integral part of the royal courts, the nagaras played the role of inspiring the spirits of the masses during times of war, although now they are more often heard at weddings, religious functions and various festivities. Be prepared to feel the rhythm!

Harvesting the Wild: Interview with Tiger Lotus Co-op.

Dragonroot spoke with the three founders of the Tiger Lotus Co-op on their current workshop series, Harvesting the Wild. https://www.tigerlotuscoop.com/ Tiger Lotus Collective is a wellness centre offering tender loving care and education. We are made up of female practitioners and educators in Montreal passionate about healing in its many forms. We believe the health care system, with its narrow scope of treatments and overburdened hospitals and clinics, is largely unequipped to deal with physical and psychological issues that impact women. We focus on providing a preventative instead of curative model of health care and try to educate females about their bodies and spirits, and how best to care for them in the day-to-day.

16. Healthy Mind, Healthy Soul - Ustadha Shehnaz Karim - Lotus Blossom Retreat

Healthy Mind, Healthy Soul - Ustadha Shehnaz Karim - Lotus Blossom Retreat

It is time to admit that we are very limited on how we view health. Too often, in the classical Islamic rhetoric, we hear that mental problems are the consequence of a lack of faith or prayers. But we have to give the mind its right. The Prophet - may the peace and blessings of God nourish his soul and our connection to Him - has taught us that if the time of the prayer has come and you need to go to the bathroom, then go to the bathroom first; praying will not magically make the need disappear. Let’s not think that reading Qur’an and reciting invocations will make us angels or pure spirits detached from our human needs. We are not there yet and that’s okay. We have to accept our human nature and take care of it. The mind has its right and there is such a thing as “thinking properly”. Having a healthy, positive mind is an art, and it affects all other aspects of health. If your thinking is negative, everything spiritual could be filtered by your distorted mind. Psychological complexes can be easily mixed with religion. You may think that being a good Muslim is being constantly down on yourself - that being a self-critic is getting somewhere on the spiritual path, but in reality, you are just manifesting your unhealthy state of mind. Before approaching the spirit, it is very important to be in a state of well-being. Our soul is already connected to God, but our mind can easily become a veil. As such, we have to make sure that the mind is in the service of the soul and not the other way around. We have to beware of the domination of the mind on the soul that can hold us back on our spiritual journey. We can no longer keep this issue of mental health on the side. Talking about the beauty of the Qur'an or tahajjud (night prayer) while everyone is suffering mentally on the side? Yes, the source of our suffering is the lack of connection with God, but it does not simply mean that we need to add more external actions to our list. It means that we have to be conscious that God is able to deal with all of our sufferings and anxiety and that He is our Doctor. It means that you have to bring all of who you are to your experience with God. Let’s not hide behind the image of the perfect healthy Muslim. It is okay to be in a bad state and to talk to God in that state. That is the purpose of having a Lord, a Care-taker; bring everything and all of yourself to God. ----------------------------- This talk was given during the Lotus Blossom Retreat, a spiritual retreat focusing on healing the body, the mind, and the spirit.
